This is another educational video.
This one is about — the basis of informed not inflamed — the roil system. R-O-I-L.
Roil stands for read, observe, interview, and learn.
The word roil means to stir things up, to be in a state of turbulence or agitation.
You do these four things and you’ll stir things up in your mind. It will make you less biased or more tolerant of bias – and you’ll find that you’re a better informed and less inflamed person.
More importantly, this roil system will help you become informed efficiently – using the daily routine of your life to get informed.
The next few videos go more in-depth for you. They’re full of suggestions.
But first, here’s a quick overview. It might feel like you’re drinking from a fire hydrant. But don’t worry. You can go at your own pace.
The r in roil stands for read.
So how do we read in an informed not inflamed way?
The answer.
Read four newspapers a day. Don’t worry. It’s not as tough as it seems.
In addition, you will read two political blogs, two morning news letters, and a weekly news magazine, plus a work of non-fiction.
Again, don’t worry.
It seems like a lot, but i will have suggetions for you to make it easy.
O stands for observe. This means watching t-v or videos on the internet.
I will cover — what t-v — is worth watching for news and information – not just entertainment.
I is for interview. We will go over how to touch base with experts around the world. It’s easier now – thanks to communications technology. And i’ll also have some short-cuts for you.
Finally, L means learn. I will give you tips on how to put the whole thing together, so all this information means something and is useful to you in your life.
A lot of this is in my book. Sign up on informed not inflamed and i will send you a p-d-f version of my book – for free.
Feel free to move onto the next video.
